John Yakovlevich Obraztsov (1839-1903) - archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church , teacher and spiritual writer.

Born in the family of the clerk of the Tver diocese . He graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy in 1863, and in 1867 received a master's degree in theology. From 1865 to 1897 he served as a priest in the Savior-Sennovskaya Church in St. Petersburg. At the same time since 1867 he was a member of the commission for streamlining the synodal archive. Since 1870, from the moment of its foundation, he was a law teacher in the gymnasium at the Historical and Philological Institute , and since 1879 in the Alexander Cadet Corps . In 1883 he was elevated to the rank of archpriest and at the same time was appointed a member of the Study Committee at the Synod , which he was until 1892. In 1888 he became a professor of theology at the Petersburg Historical and Philological Institute, and also taught the Law of God at the Petrovsky Merchant School [1] .
His works: “The Likhud Brothers” (in the “ Journal of the Ministry of Public Education ”, 1865), “Kiev scholars in Great Russia” (in the “ Epoch ”), “Description of documents and files of the synodal archive” (vol. III, 1723; 1878) and others.
