History
In preparation for the celebration of the 8th anniversary of the October Revolution, railroad workers proposed to erect a monument to V. I. Lenin on the territory of the depot. This idea was warmly supported. During non-working hours, the railway workers were engaged in the manufacture of a pedestal from railway parts [2] . The author of the design of the pedestal is Yakovlev, head of the fifth section of the draft [3] . According to the plan, the monument should not only be able to move along the railway, but also rotate around its own axis [1] , for which a special lever is provided.
Workers collected money for a sculpture from the delivery of scrap metal and subbotniki to repair wagons. However, when the necessary funds were collected, it turned out that there was too little time left before the anniversary for sculptors to make a monument. Then the workers decided to install on the pedestal a sculpture from the lobby of the Leningrad station [2] . A more monumental monument was later installed at the station [3] .
Description
The monument is made of plaster and tinted on top of bronze [3] . Lenin stands tall on a high pedestal. His left hand is clenched into a fist and rests on the column, and his right hand is hidden in his trouser pocket [4] . The pedestal is made of welded locomotive connecting rods, wings, reverse, worm gears. He stands on four railway wheels from a written off tender [3] . The details of the pedestal are painted with black and red paint [5] . A metal plate is attached to the base of the pedestal with the inscription: “ Erected by workers of locomotive and carriage workshops of the 5th stretch of traction Ok. g. 5.XI - 1925 ” [2] .
