Biography
Nikolai Mikhailovich Egorov was born on December 19, 1910 in the village of the Big Yard of the Tver province [1] . Early left an orphan, was forced to work. From 1926 he lived in Leningrad , graduated from the factory apprenticeship school and worked at the Leningrad optical glass factory . In 1935, Egorov graduated from the Leningrad Engineering and Economics Institute and was assigned to work at the Leningrad State Optical and Mechanical Plant (GOMZ). After serving urgent service, he continued to work at the plant as deputy chief, head of the workshop. He participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War as part of the Leningrad army of the people's militia, was seriously wounded near Luga and dismissed from the Armed Forces of the USSR. From 1942 he lived and worked in the evacuation of the Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [2] .
From December 1946, Egorov headed the plastics workshop, workshop No. 003, planning and production department of the Krasnogorsk plant No. 393 of the USSR Ministry of Armaments (later - the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant) . This plant produced tank sights, infrared and optical devices, electron microscopes, cameras. In 1952 - 1953, Egorov was the director of the Moscow plant "Geophysics", in 1953-1965 - the director of the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant. During his leadership, the plant mastered the production of radio equipment for controlling rockets, a number of high-precision cameras, increasing the number of products produced by more than 4.5 times. The team of the plant took an active part in the development of the first artificial satellite of the Earth, having developed a unique camera for it. The company's products have been repeatedly presented at both the Allied and international exhibitions, and were marked with prestigious awards [2] .
The famous Zenit-E camera was named in his honor.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on June 17, 1961, Nikolai Mikhailovich Egorov was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle and Hammer medal [ 2] .
In April 1965, Egorov was transferred to work at the USSR Ministry of Defense Industry , headed by the 2nd Main Directorate of this Ministry. He died on September 27, 1974, and was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery of Moscow [2] .
Winner of the State Prize of the USSR in 1973 . He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution , two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor , two Orders of the Badge of Honor , and a number of medals [2] .

The street in Krasnogorsk is named after Yegorov [2] .
