Gastromermis acutipapillata (lat.) - a species of roundworms from the family Mermithidae (order Mermithida , Nematoda ). Endemic to Lake Baikal ( Russia ), where it was found at a depth of 30 m. Roundworms are small in size. They have 1 long spicule (about 4 times longer than the body), 8 longitudinal chords and 6 head papillas, a ventrally shifted mouth, with a small opening. Outside covered with a thin cuticle without cross fibrillation. Presumably parasites of aquatic larvae of mosquito bells ( Chironomidae ). The species was first described in 1976 by the Soviet zoologist Professor Ivan Antonovich Rubtsov and included in the previously identified separate genus Gastromermis Micoletzky , 1923 from the family Mermithidae [1] [2] [3] .
