Samir al-Khlifavi , better known as Haji Bakr, is a former military officer in the Iraqi army since Saddam Hussein , after the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the start of the Iraq war, he joined the terrorist organization the Islamic State of Iraq , later the Islamic State , where he became one from senior military commanders.

According to unconfirmed reports (referring to Spiegel Reuters correspondent), it was he who commanded the IS forces, which in 2013 intervened in the Syrian civil war [1] and stood for turning the group into a “quasi-state”. In particular, he approved the creation of the media centers of the group - Al-Furkan and Al-Hayat . He was killed in Aleppo in January 2014 by members of the Syrian opposition group of the Syrian Martyrs Brigade. [2]
