Kamenetz-Podolsky trolleybus is a project providing for the provision of trolleybus services in Kamenetz-Podolsky , the second most populated city in the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine .
History
For the first time, the idea of building a trolleybus line in the city arose in 1975. In the comprehensive plan for the economic and social development of Kamyanets-Podilsky for 1976-1980, it was planned to build a 12-kilometer trolleybus line in the city. She was supposed to connect a cement plant in the north of Kamenetz-Podolsky with the southern district of the city. In 1976, the Kamenetz-Podolsky City Executive Committee decided to begin preparatory work for the construction of the planned line. Most of all, Kamenetz-Podolsky Cement Plant (now OJSC Podolsky Cement) was interested in the construction of the line. The trolley bus was supposed to facilitate efficient communication with the city of the plant itself and the Pervomaisky microdistrict, which was formed on the basis of the cement plant village. However, until 1990, practically nothing was done. The main reasons for this were the fact that the city had good bus connections, and on the other hand, there were not enough resources for the construction of a trolleybus line.
On January 6, 1990, a joint order was issued, which was signed by the head of Ukrcement, the chairman of the Kamenetz-Podolsky city executive committee and the director of the Kamenetz-Podolsky cement plant. It was planned to complete the construction of the first stage of the trolleybus line before 1995, to create a directorate of the trolleybus line at a cement plant, to finance the construction and maintain the created directorate through the participation of enterprises and organizations of Kamenets-Podolsky. 7 ZiU-9 trolleybuses were purchased (since 1993 they have been operating in Khmelnitsky). The pillars of the contact network were installed, a place for a trolleybus depot was determined, work was done on the installation of electrical equipment. However, then, in the 1990s, it was not possible to open the trolleybus movement in the city. Only the public organization Kamenetsky Trolleybus seemed to be the only structure which, for 15 years, raised the issue of the appearance of a trolleybus in the city.
In 2011, this question seemed to have budged - on June 3, Czech specialists visited the city, the main purpose of the visit was to study the possibility of completing the construction . And on July 29, the public council held an extended meeting on this issue and, in accordance with the results, the public and the authorities came to the conclusion that electric transport should appear in the city.
