Augustus of Brandenburg spent some time at the Danish court. The prince, who was not very healthy, was also planning to visit Italy and France, but died of a pulmonary disease at the age of 21 in the morning of April 23, 1601, in his mother’s arms. On May 23, 1601, August Brandenburg was buried in the crypt of Hohenzollern in the Berlin Cathedral in the presence of members of the Elector's house and the widow of the Saxon Elector.
