Lazar Vladimirovich Rosenthal ( June 13, 1894 [1] - 1990 ) - Soviet art critic, tour guide and researcher of excursion business, teacher, passionate poetry lover, writer and memoirist.

Biography
Born in Lodz in the family of the accountant of the textile factory Vladimir Solomonovich Rozental and Elizaveta Grigoryevna Syrkina (1867, Brest - 1921, Moscow ) . In 1912 he graduated from the Tenishevsk Real School in St. Petersburg . Then he entered the historical and philological faculty of Petrograd University. He studied in the history of art [2] , specialized under the guidance of D.V. Ainalov .
As a student, Rosenthal worked as a tutor. He taught mathematics to the shy student of the Tenishevsky school Kolya Shustov, and since the fall of 1916, his schoolmate Volodya Nabokov , the future famous Russian-American writer. Having lived a long life and outliving his famous student, Rosenatal became the only one from a long series of tutors and tutors Nabokov who left memories of him.
In 1918 he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of St. Petersburg University. In 1919-1922 he was the director of the Art Museum in Nizhny Novgorod , was in charge of the educational department, was a lecturer in the political enlightenment [2] , and taught art history. In the autumn of 1922 he moved to Moscow , where he worked at the excursion section of the Moscow Department of Education, was a teacher at the Prechistensk Practical Institute . In January 1925 he entered the service as a research fellow at the Tretyakov Gallery . He worked in various museums in the Hermitage , the Porcelain Museum in Kuskovo , taught a course in art history at the Moscow Textile Institute , GITIS , and the 1905 Art School .
The author of several popular publications about art (1937, 1947). He left behind many manuscripts that were never published during his lifetime. (with the exception of several small works published in the 20–40s).
