James Gandolfini was born on September 18, 1961 in Borough Westwood (State of New Jersey ), in a family of Americans of Italian descent - cooks and masons. At the end of her life, James's mother led the school cafeteria, and his father was the senior guard at this school.
He graduated from Rutgers University before beginning his artistic career at the New York Theater. At 21, he gets a job as the administrator of a New York night club on 21st Street. He worked there for two years. Gandolfini later recalled that many of the types played later were met by him there. He graduated from the theater courses of Susan Eston, who taught according to the methods of Sanford Meisner, and participated in several amateur productions.
His debut on the big Broadway stage took place in 1992 in Tennessee Williams ' Desire Tram. The first movie role seen by the public and critics was played by James in Tony Scott 's True Love . Known for the films " Lonely Hearts " with John Travolta and Salma Hayek and " All the Royal Men " with Sean Penn and Jude Law .
In the film " Fall Speed " he played the Russian mafiosi. During the filming of this film in the winter of 1994, he visited Moscow. Death
On June 19, 2013, while on vacation with his 13-year-old son Michael in Rome , at about 10 pm local time, Gandolfini lost consciousness in the bathroom of a hotel room [8] . Michael asked for help, an ambulance crew was called to deliver Gandolfini to the Policlinico Umberto I hospital in [8] . Already in the car he underwent resuscitation procedures, which lasted for 40 minutes after arrival at the hospital [8] . After unsuccessful resuscitation attempts, James Gandolfini was declared dead at approximately 23:20 [8] . According to Professor Claudio Modini, the actor 's heart stopped [8] .
An autopsy was performed on June 21 to establish the official cause of Gandolfini's death, myocardial infarction [9] .
June 22, the actor was supposed to visit Taormina to participate in the local film festival [10] . The death of Gandolfini caused a wide resonance in the world media, and many colleagues of the actor simply could not believe what happened [11] .
June 26, all Broadway theaters turned off the light for one minute, in order to honor the memory of the departed artist [12] .
On June 27, a farewell to Gandolfini took place in the New York Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist , who visited almost the entire key cast of the Soprano Clan [13] [14] .
In late 2013, HBO released a documentary dedicated to the memory of the actor.
