Description
Golden Street is located in the western part of Sokolinaya Gora. The total length is about 2 km. It is located along the Kazan direction of the Moscow Railway, parallel to Bolshaya Semenovskaya Street and Budyonny Avenue . It starts in the north beyond the territory of MAMI from Projected Driveway No. 222. In the south crosses Burakova Street . It intersects with Semenovsky shaft and Semenovsky passage .
Private garages are located along the even side of the street (Pervomaisky-2 GSK and others) along the odd side, and office, industrial and warehouse buildings, as well as several residential buildings (assigned to Semenovsky passage). The southern half of the street is almost deserted, since it almost entirely passes between garages and the fence of the Salyut gas turbine construction center.
History and origin of the name
Despite the similarities, the names Zolotaya Street in Moscow and Zolotaya Street in Prague are of completely different origin. It was not jewelers who lived on Zolotaya Street, but goldsmiths — the scavengers of old Moscow. At night they took out the "gold" in whose honor the street was named. In 1967, it was renamed Burakova Street , but then it was divided and its northern part was given the old name.
