Geography

The village is located on the shore of the Kuibyshev reservoir , formed by the valley of the Bolshoi Cheremshan River , at the confluence of the Yerykly River (Sukhoi Yerykly [2] ).

History

Ostrog Eryklinsk (Yaryklinsk) was founded in 1652 on the Zakamsky notch line and played a great role in the defense of the state in the 17th century. The fortification was abolished in 1781.

Since December 18, 1708, according to the Decree of Peter I , the suburb of Yaryklinsk became part of the Sinbirsky district of the Kazan province .

Since 1780, as part of the Stavropol district of Simbirsk governorship .

In 1794, with the help of the parishioners, the Transfiguration Church was built, a two-altar church in the name of the Mother of God of Kazan, a wooden building on a stone foundation, with a stone bell tower, was rebuilt in 1851. In 1902, a new stone temple was designed and built in 1906. In 1910, the old ritual prayer house was designed. In 1915, a new stone church was built in the village.

According to the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary, at the end of the 19th century, the suburb of Eryklinsk belonged to the Stavropol district of the Samara province . More than 3600 inhabitants lived in it, there was a church, a school, a potash factory and up to 30 trading shops, bazaars were held weekly, and once a year there was a fair [2] .
