Biography
A native of a noble family, he served in the army even before the revolution, then retired. However, with the onset of revolutionary events, he became first an officer of the National Guard of Paris, and then a captain in the 14th light infantry battalion. In 1793 he was dismissed from the army as a royalist, but restored in 1795. During the Italian campaign of Bonaparte, Dutayi became adjutant to General Berthier. In Italy, his brilliant career begins. He became the commander of the battalion in 1796, and the colonel in 1797. Working in various headquarters, he receives the appointment of the chief of staff of the Ney corps and at the same time the rank of brigadier general in 1803, with the 6th corps of the Great Army, General Dutayi went through the campaigns of 1805, 1806 and 1807. As the memoirist accurately describes, Dutayi lost his hand during reconnaissance on June 6, 1807 near Guttstadt. But a few days later he received an award in the form of the rank of division general, and a year later Dutayi received the title of count and a rent of 30,000 francs. In 1812, Dutaji became the commandant of Warsaw, and then - the commandant of Torgau. The last fortress of Dutaya was stubbornly defended and surrendered only on November 17, 1813. He was captured until 1814, then returned to France and retired in 1815.
