Biography
Bernard Brezhon was born July 6, 1962 in the commune of Suren , department of Hautes-de-Seine . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, was trained at the sports club of the Boulogne-Billancourt commune.
He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in 1982, when he joined the main team of the French national team and attended the World Championships in Yugoslav Belgrade, from where he brought the gold dignity, won in doubles at ten thousand meters. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . Together with team-mate Patrick Lefoulon, he won a silver medal in the classification of double kayaks at a distance of 1000 meters, losing to the crew from Canada, while in loners at a distance of 500 meters he became a bronze medalist, passing ahead of Australian Ian Ferguson and Swede Lars-Eric Muberg .
After the Olympics, Brezhon remained in the main composition of the rowing team of France and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1985, he performed at the world championship in the Belgian Mechelen, where he received a bronze medal in singles at five hundred meters. A year later, he started at similar competitions in Montreal, Canada and took silver there alone at ten kilometers. Being one of the leaders of the French national team, he successfully qualified for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul , but this time he did not get the number of winners, paired with Olivier Lazac he managed to reach the semi-finals only. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to young French rowers.
Married to French kayaker Bernadette Ettic , who participated in the 1984 and 1992 Olympics.
