Biography

The representative of the Polish gentry Opora family coat of arms " Sulima ". The second son of voivode Lenchitsky Nikolai from Opooruv (c. 1365 - 1425 ). The younger brother is the governor of Lenchitsky Peter from Opooruv (c. 1405-1467).

He was educated at Padua University , where he received a doctorate degree. Professor of the Faculty of Law and Rector of the University of Krakow ( 1426 ). He worked in the office of the Polish king Vladislav II Yagello , having received from him in 1429 the position of sub - chancellor of the crown (1429-1434). Vladislav Oporovsky was one of the main associates of the king in foreign policy. Together with Nikolai Kichka participated in 1422 in a lawsuit between Poland and the Teutonic Order. On December 31, 1435, he signed a peace treaty with the Teutonic Crusaders in Brzesc-Kujawski .

Vladislav Oporovsky owned a number of beneficiaries and church posts, the main of which were: the bishop of Kujawy ( 1434-1449 ) and the archbishop of Gniezna ( 1449-1453 ). As archbishop of Gnezna and a Polish primate , he led the Catholic Church in the Kingdom of Poland for four years. He was the founder of the Gothic castle in Opoorów near Kutn , where he died on March 11, 1453 .
