History
The canton was formed as a result of the 2015 reform [1] by the merger of the abolished cantons of Saint-Aman-les-O-Left Bank and Saint-Aman-les-O-Right Bank .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round of Marine Le Pen 33.9% of the vote against 21.3% of Jean-Luc Melanson , 17.4% of Emmanuel Macron and 14.3% of Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, Le Pen won the canton, receiving 51.9% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Marine Le Pen - 25.5%, Francois Hollande - 23.8%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 22.7%; 2nd round: Hollande - 52.9%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Nor Council by the vice mayors of Saint-Aman-les-O, Claudine Derœux and Eric Renaud (both Communist Parties ).
