Biography
Clint Robinson was born July 27, 1972 in Brisbane , Queensland . He spent his childhood in the town of Nambour , he began to actively engage in rowing at the age of sixteen, was trained in one of the Sunshine Coast canoe clubs and at the Queensland Sports Institute.
He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in 1991, when he joined the Australian national team and attended the World Championships in Paris, from where he brought the silver dignity, won in the classification of four-seater kayaks at a distance of ten kilometers. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona - in the standings of single kayaks at a distance of 1000 meters, he defeated all his rivals and thereby won a gold Olympic medal.
In 1994, Robinson went to the World Championships in Mexico City, from where he brought gold and bronze dignity awards, won singles at a thousand meters and doubles with Martin Hunter at five hundred meters. A year later, at similar competitions in Duisburg, Germany, he won silver in the kilometer race of single kayaks. Being one of the leaders of the rowing team of Australia, he successfully qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta - he tried to repeat the success of four years ago, but this time he was forced to be content with a bronze medal, in the finals of the kilometer program he lost to the Norwegian Knut Holmann and the Italian Benjamin Bononi .
After these competitions, Robinson for many years remained in the main squad of the Australian national team and continued to take part in major international regattas, however, he did not achieve significant achievements in the offset of the World Championships. In 2000, she got away to the home Olympics in Sydney , but couldn’t get into the number of winners here, managed to reach the stage of semifinals alone on a thousand meters. Four years later, he represented the country at the Olympic Games in Athens , where, together with his team-mate Nathan Baggali, he won the silver medal in doubles at five hundred meters, skipping ahead only the starry German crew Ronald Raue and Tim Wisketter . In 2008, Robinson went to the fifth Olympic Games in his career, at competitions in Beijing he performed in doubles at five hundred meters and fours at a thousand, but in both of these disciplines he reached only the semifinal stage.
Along with rowing performances, Clint Robinson regularly participated in the competitions of Australian coast rescuers, in total in various disciplines of this direction he became the champion of the country 36 times - he is considered one of the greatest athletes in this sport, second only to the famous Trevor Handy in the number of titles won. For outstanding sports achievements he was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia [1] .
