First Formation
It was formed on May 23, 1836 at the direction of President Jackson . It consisted of two squadrons, one of which was located in the state of Missouri in the fortified Jefferson barracks, and the second in the state of Florida , where he took part in the war against the Seminoles . His first combat clash was a shootout at Welik Pond on June 10, 1836, where company D participated. In December 1836, companies A, B, C, E, I arrived, and in January 1837 they participated in the battle at Fort Mellon. On September 9 of the same year, three Dragoon companies surrounded the village and captured one of the Seminole leaders named King Philip. The 2nd Dragoonsky mainly participated in offensive operations, preferring not to wait for the attacks of the Indians in the forts, as the other units acted.
Subsequently, the second squadron under the command of Colonel Twiggs was transferred to Texas . The regiment took part in all wars and conflicts in the Midwestern United States of the mid-19th century: the war with Mexico , the wars with the Indians , the civil war in Kansas and the war with the Mormons .

During the subsequent Mez-Argonne offensive, the regiment was used for the last time in military operations as a cavalry.
