Josiah Zimler ( German: Josias Simmler ; November 6, 1530 - July 2, 1576 , Zurich ) - Swiss theologian , son of the pastor. Ancestor of John Zimler .

He studied at the Bullinger House, attended lectures at the University of Basel and Strasbourg, was a professor of theological sciences in Zurich . He left a lot of works on astronomy , geography , history , theology , as well as the biography of Bullinger and others. In 1576 he published his work “On the Helvetian Republic” ( lat. De republica Helvetiorum ), translated into several languages. He had more than once to oppose the various sects that arose in the Protestant church, mainly against the anti-Trinitarians . Especially often the Poles turned to him with requests to speak out about various theological issues.
