Vasily Pavlovich Dobrokhotov was born on February 20, 1911 in the city of Kirzhach (now Vladimir Region ). In 1926, he graduated from seven groups of the school, after which he worked as an apprentice fitter at a school for factory apprenticeship, a fitter of the Ordzhonikidze factory in the city of Kolchugino . In 1932, Dobrokhotov graduated from the Vladimir Mechanical College, after which he remained to teach at it. In 1933 - 1934 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Demobilized, he moved to Moscow , worked at the enterprises of the defense industry of the USSR. In 1938 he graduated in absentia from the three courses of the Institute of Defense Industry, in 1942 - the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks , after which he worked in the divisions of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks . In 1949 - 1951 he held the posts of deputy, first deputy head of the department of diplomatic and foreign trade bodies of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) [1] .

In September 1951, Dobrokhotov was sent to work in the USSR state security organs. He was a member of the Board, head of the Secretariat of the Ministry of State Security of the USSR . In 1952 - 1953 he worked as first deputy head of the First Main Directorate of the Ministry of State Security of the USSR . Since March 1953, Dobrokhotov was deputy head of the secretariat of the USSR Ministry of the Interior . In 1954 - 1959 he headed the Secretariat of the USSR State Security Committee; on January 9, 1957 he was awarded the title of Major General of State Security. Since April 1959, Dobrokhotov led the Office of the KGB of the USSR in the Ivanovo Region [1] .

In October 1962, Dobrokhotov joined the Office of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR. He died on July 12, 1971 [1] , was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery in Moscow .

He was awarded the orders of World War II 2nd degree and the Badge of Honor , as well as a number of medals [1] .
