The election of President of Yemen was held on February 21, 2012 . Acting President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi was the only candidate in the election. He was sworn in as President of Yemen on February 25, 2012 at the Presidential Palace.

Background
During the 2011 uprising, Gulf Cooperation Council member countries proposed an agreement under which President Ali Abdullah Saleh transfers his authority to Vice President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Saleh was supposed to remain in office only formally for another three months before the election. Saleh signed an agreement in Riyadh on November 23, 2011, and on November 26, Hadi announced the election date.
Boycott
The Hussites who populate North Yemen called for a boycott of the vote. In the same vein, the southern separatists declared.
