Akkesen is an ancient fortified city on the territory of the Talas district of the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan . It is located in the lower Talas valley, 30 km west of the village of Usharal [1] . In 1896 it was investigated by V.A. Kallaur . The exact date of occurrence is unknown. The fortress is of a quadrangular shape, an area of 100 × 100 m, has a fence.
In the north-west of the fortress there is a 9 m high adobe brick tower. Akkesen Tower is one of the few surviving watch towers of the Kipchak period (XIII-XVII centuries). Has the status of a monument of architecture.
