History
Formed in October 1942 in the Oryol region as part of the 48th army of the Bryansk Front . The division was formed on the basis of the 118th Infantry Brigade. This brigade itself was formed in April 1942 at the Krotovka station in the Kuibyshev region, it was supplemented by fighters of the communist battalion formed in Kuibyshev . In April, she was sent to the Central Front in the 48th Army. And she immediately replaced another military unit on the front line in the defense. In October 1942, the 118th separate rifle brigade at the front was reorganized into the 41st rifle division [2] .
Battle Path
This division went the battle way from Orel to Berlin . From November 1942 to February 1943, the division was part of the 48th Army of the Bryansk Front, from March to May 1943 the 3rd Army , and from June to October 1943 the 63rd Army .
From February to June 1943, 41 divisions liberated the Zalegoshchensky district of the Oryol region . Then, from July 12, she participated in the offensive operation "Kutuzov" (part of the battle on the Kursk Bulge ), freeing the villages southeast of Orel and then the city of Oryol itself. After the liberation of Orel on August 5, 1943, the troops of the 63 army, which included the division, continued to pursue the enemy in the Bryansk direction. On September 17, the troops of the Bryansk Front successfully crossed the Desna River and, breaking the enemy’s resistance, captured the cities of Bryansk and Bezhitsa .
