The Battle of Gunzburg is a battle that took place on October 9, 1805 near the German city of Gunzburg , between the French and Austrian forces as part of the Third Coalition War .

Fight
General Mac, learning too late about the movement of Emperor Napoleon , tried to defend the Danube crossing. He sends the Grenadiers of Auffenberg to Donauworth , who fought with the French on October 8 at Wertingen , and decides to occupy Gunzburg with a detachment of ten thousand people. Marshal Ney attacks this city with Mahler’s divisions , while Dupont’s division , heading for Albek, threatens Ulm . Mahler, occupies the center of Gunzburg, and captures five guns with nine hundred soldiers.
On the battlefield, the grave of Colonel Gerard Lacue , the commander of the 59th regiment of linear infantry, who died during the battle, was erected.
