History

During the Zhou era, these places were the capital of the kingdom of Liao (蓼 国).

Under the Western Han Empire, Qinxian County (寝 县) was established in these places. Under the Eastern Han Empire, in 26, Emperor Guang Wu-di gave Liu Tong the title “Gushihou” (固始 аров) and granted these places as a possession - this is how the inheritance of Gushi (固始 侯 国) appeared. Subsequently, the inheritance was transformed into a county - this is how Gushi County appeared.

During the southern Liang dynasty, Gushi County was renamed Liaoxian (蓼 县), but under the Northern Qi Empire, the name Gushi was returned to it. Under the Northern Zhou empire, the Kuizhou (浍 州) region was created, whose powers were located in Gushi. Under the Sui Empire, Qixiang County (期 思 县) was annexed to Gushi County.

In 1949, the Huanchuan Special District (潢川 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1952, Huangquan Special District was annexed to Xinyang Special Region (信阳 专区). In 1970, Xinyang Special District was renamed Xinyang County (信阳 地区).

In 1998, by the decision of the State Council of the PRC, Xinyang County and the city of Xinyang were disbanded, and the Xinyang City District was formed.

In 2004, Gushi County became one of the five most important administrative units of the county level of Henan with expanded rights. In 2011, Gushi County became one of the ten administrative units of the county level of Henan Province, experimentally reporting directly to the provincial authorities. On January 1, 2014, Gushi County was officially removed from the Xinyang City District and directly subordinated to the authorities of Henan Province.

Administrative Division

The county is divided into 3 street committees , 15 villages and 15 volosts .
