Juast or Just [4] ( Juist (outdated) [5] ) is an island in Germany, part of the East Frisian Islands . Administratively, it has the status of a settlement in Lower Saxony .

Part of the Aurich district. The population is 1,700 people (as of December 31, 2010). It covers an area of 16.43 km². The official code is 03 4 52 013 .
The municipality is divided into 2 rural districts.
Content
History
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Just century was cut into two parts by a storm tidal (see St. Peter's stream ). Around 1770, people began to fill up the 2-kilometer erosion on the south side, creating an artificial dune. More recently, in 1928, the northern side was also restored. By this time, the water in Lake Hammersee had returned to a stale form.

Transportation
The island is officially considered car-free. All domestic shipments are carried out on horse-drawn carts [6] .
An exception is made only for cars of the fire service, ambulance, minibus of the local youth center, tractors and construction equipment. Local mail uses electric car.
From 1898 to 1982, an island railway existed on the island, carrying passengers from the port to the center of the island. After construction from 1979 to 1981 of a new local port, the railway gradually began to turn off. After 1982, it was used only for the transportation of minerals. [7]
There is an airfield on Yuste, which is connected by local air traffic with the seaside town Norddeich.
