Yuanyang ( Chinese р 阳 п , Pinyin : Yuányáng ) is a county of Xinxiang City, Henan Province ( PRC ). The name of the county is formed from the first hieroglyphs of the counties that previously existed in these places.

History
Under the Qin Empire, Yanu County (阳 武 县) was created. Under the Han Empire, the county of Yuanwu (原 武 县) was formed. Under the Song empire, in the 1070s, the Yuanwu county was annexed to the Yangwu county, but was recreated in the 1090s.
Pingyuan Province was established in August 1949, and these places are part of the Xingxiang (新乡 专区) Special Region of Pingyuan Province. In 1950, the Yuanyu and Yangyu counties were merged into the new Yuanyang county, the name of which was composed of the first characters of the names of the original counties. On November 30, 1952, Pingyuan Province was disbanded, and the Xinxiang Special Region became part of the Henan Province. In 1967, Xinxiang Special District was renamed Xinxiang County (新乡 地区).
In 1986, Xinxiang County and Xinxiang City were disbanded, and Xinxiang City District was formed.
