Early biography
The future heir was born on September 30, 1807, Agustin was the first-born of the future emperor Agustin I and Anna Maria. He was baptized in Sagrario.
Imperial Prince
In 1822, his father Agustin de Iturbide was proclaimed emperor of Mexico, Jeronimo was the firstborn, and therefore the heir to the imperial throne. On July 21, the coronation of Agustin I by the emperor of Mexico took place, Agustin Jeronimo was present at the coronation as heir to the throne. After the abdication of his father, many monarchists were loyal to the empire, then he was proclaimed Emperor of Mexico Agustin II.
Further Life
After the fall of the empire in March 1823, he moved with his parents to Europe, where he remained, even when they returned to Mexico. Before leaving, his father left him at the College. At twenty, he arrived in Colombia, where he remained until 1830. After he was appointed Simon Bolivar as his assistant, he greatly appreciated it. But Bolivar wanted to protect the young prince from the claims of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. In his document, Bolivar wrote that he went up, relying on his assistant, who was with him until the end. Bolivar died on December 17, 1830, Jeronimo returned to his homeland, to the diplomatic service. The Mexican Congress lifted the ban on the imperial family in Mexico, and in 1831 Agustin was appointed secretary of the Mexican Embassy in the United States with a salary of 3,500 pesos, he worked as secretary until March 29, 1833, then was transferred to London with the same salary. In 1855, the Mexican conservatives created a plan, article 4, according to which Agustin was proclaimed emperor, but on condition that he should marry a Mexican girl. This plan had no effect on politics.
Death
Agustin Jeronimo de Iturbide died on December 11, 1866 in New York. He was buried in the city of Philadelphia, in the chapel of San Juan, where most of the imperial family is buried. He died without leaving an heir, the title of the prince was inherited by his nephew Agustin de Iturbide .
