“Maniac” is the song of the American pop singer, guitarist and composer Michael Sembello , which has become one of the main musical themes of the popular movie Flashdance and included in its soundtrack Flashdance (1983). The authors were Dennis Matkoski and Michael Sembello , and Phil Ramon became the producer. The single was released on EMI and Casablanca labels and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts . The song received two prestigious nominations in 1984: the Oscar for the best song for the film and the Golden Globe for the best song . There were also two Grammy nominations for Best Song of the Year and Best Male Vocal Pop Performance [1] [2] .

The single became No. 1 in Canada and the USA ( Billboard Hot 100 ), in Australia, Spain and Switzerland it reached No. 2, in France - No. 3, in Italy - No. 5, in Germany - No. 6. Also it was in Top-10 in Belgium, Ireland, Holland and New Zealand [1] [3] [4] [5] .
