Biography
After graduating from the Vilna Gymnasium (1880), he entered the natural department of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of St. Petersburg University , where he studied for two years and transferred to the Medical-Surgical Academy , where he graduated with the title of doctor with honors in 1886. Left at the Academy, in 1886-1889, was an intern at the propaedeutic clinic of Professor V.A. Manassein , under whose guidance he defended his doctoral thesis “Materials for a clinical study of fluctuations in the properties of gastric juice (Effect of rest, movement, physical work and sleep” .
In the period of 1889-1891, he interned abroad, worked in Paris with I.I. Mechnikov and E. Ru . After returning to Russia, in 1891, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the St. Petersburg Clinic of Internal Diseases at the Medical-Surgical Academy: he taught the course “Clinics and Medical Diagnostics”. At the same time he worked in the laboratories of I. P. Pavlov and M. V. Nentsky at the Institute of Experimental Medicine .
In 1897 he was elected a full professor at Kiev University and in 1913 he taught at the university’s medical faculty: Head of the Department of Medical Diagnostics (from 1897), Head of the Department of Hospital Therapy Clinic (since 1903). He was one of the organizers of the Emergency Medical Aid Society in Kiev; since 1909 - its chairman.
In 1913 he headed the Department of Medical Diagnostics at Moscow University ; since 1916 - Professor Emeritus. Its Moscow address is Trubnikovsky Pereulok , 26 [1] .
After the revolution of 1917 he moved to the Crimea, where at the end of 1918 he was elected a professor at the faculty therapeutic clinic of the Tauride University . In January 1920, he emigrated from Russia; He was a consultant to the wounded and sick army of General P.N. Wrangel , then - the director of the Russian clinics organized by him in Cairo . Since the foundation of the Royal Medical Society in Cairo in 1922, K.E. Wagner has been a member of his board, and since 1928 he has been the vice-chairman.
In 1931 he moved to Warsaw; after World War II, he lived for a short time in Petrokov [2] , then moved to Kalisz , where he died around 1950.
