Biography

He gained fame as a striker and captain of the Lahore College hockey team. Until 1946 he performed at the university level, then - for the states of Punjab and Bengal. From 1949 to 1958 He represented the Indian Navy, was the captain of the team (1952-54 and 1957-58).

At the Summer Olympics in London (1948), he participated in the preliminary round match of the match against Spain, which India won 2-0. Four years later, at the Games in Helsinki (1952) he also spent one match for the national team, playing in the semifinals, in which the Indians defeated the British team with a score of 3: 1.

He served in senior positions in the Indian Navy. During military service, he served as secretary of the sports control committee (1970-74), commandant of the naval school of physical education and was a member of the Board of Governors of the College of Physical Education and Training. He was elected Vice President of the Asian Field Hockey Federation (1974-78), Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for the Selection of Candidates for the National Team of the Indian Hockey Federation (1981), and then its Chairman (1983-85). He led the Indian delegation to the Asian Games (1970 and 1974) and was the secretary of the 1982 Asian Games technical committee on behavior.
