Crater Couder ( lat. Couder ) - a small impact crater located in the mountains Cordillera on the far side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the French astronomer Andre Kuder (1897-1978) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1985.

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the Kuder crater are the Kramara crater in the west-north-west; Schlüter crater in the east and Maunder crater in the south. To the south of the crater are the Ruk Mountains and then the East Sea [1] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 18.6 km [2] , depth 1.8 km [3] .
The Kuder crater has a circular cup shape with a protrusion in the southeastern part. Shaft with a clearly defined edge and a smooth inner slope. In the western part of the internal slope there are bright landslide bands indicating recent geological activity in the area of the crater. The height of the shaft above the surrounding terrain is 800 m [3] , the eastern part of the shaft reaches a height of 4000 m above the bottom of the bowl [4] , the volume of the crater is approximately 270 km ³ [3] . The bottom of the bowl is relatively even, without noticeable structures. Despite being located on the far side of the moon, the Couder crater is accessible for observation from Earth with favorable libration , albeit with distortion.
Before obtaining its own name in 1985, the crater had the designation Maunder Z (in the designation system of the so-called satellite craters located in the vicinity of the crater, which has its own name).
