Biography
Vladimir Fenchenko was born on April 11, 1946 in the Moscow region in a military family. He spent pre-school childhood in the military towns of Georgia - in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. In 1953 , the family returned to the suburbs, where he lived before entering the MVTU im. Bauman .
In 1970 he graduated from the Instrument Engineering Department of MVTU im. Bauman . But by that time he was literally infected with cinema . In 1965 , he participated in the reconstruction of the VGIK film studio. From the late 1960s he was deputy. Chairman of the Moscow cinema club "Screen".
In 1975 he entered VGIK , in the workshop of Boris Altshuler , completed his studies in 1980 . His diploma film about VGIK ’s life “About Yourself” (co-authored with V. Khlusov) was censored by the institute’s leadership, was shortened and re-edited without the participation of the authors and does not exist in the author’s version.
Before studying at VGIK, in 1970, he became acquainted with the Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi , which greatly influenced his worldview and served as a motive for learning the Polish language. Subsequently, he was a translator of a number of articles, interviews and books by K. Zanussi (“Television Cinema Films” [1] , “It's Time to Die” [2] ), an interview with A. Vaida and other works published, including in the journal “The Art of Cinema”.
During his work in the cinema he shot about thirty documentaries, popular science and music films, a film-play staged by K. Zanussi, as well as a number of television programs. In 1987-93 he worked as a director of the editorial board of satire and humor of the Central Radio.
In 1994 , having accepted the offer of film director Vladimir Khotinenko , he began teaching in his studio and from that time completely devoted himself to teaching and participating in reforming and updating the curriculum for editing and directing. When developing the concept of the program, he relied, among other things, on the theory of P. Ya. Halperin on the phased formation of mental actions.
He is a teacher and director of feature film directors' workshops at VGIK and VKSR , working together with Vladimir Khotinenko , Pavel Finn , Denis Rodimin , Andrey Eshpay , Sergey Miroshnichenko , Alexander Kott and Vladimir Kott , in the past - with Karen Shakhnazarov , Leonid Gurevich . He also taught at the Internews Independent School of Film and Television, together with Marina Razbezhkina . Assistant professor.
