Biography
The group was established in the Maltese town of Fgura in 1990. Initially, the musicians performed under the name “Blind Alley” in the style of progressive metal ; by 1991, the name was changed to "Forsaken" [1] . At the end of the same year, the debut release was recorded - the “Requiem” demo. In 1993, the group signed a contract with the label Arkham Productions, and in 1994, together with the French thrash metal band Oddmongers, took part in a tour of France and Spain. The first full-length album “Evermore” was released in 1997 [4] .
In 2001, one of the participants, guitarist Daniel Magri ( Malta. Daniel Magri ), dies after a hard fight with cancer . After a long creative vacation, the musicians recorded the second demo “Demo 2002” in 2002, after which they signed a contract with the British label “Golden Lake Productions” [4] . Subsequently released the next full-length album “Anima Mundi” (2004) receives good reviews from critics [5] , and still remains one of the most famous albums “Forsaken”. The next album “Dominaeon” (2005), which has a pronounced Christian theme of songs, achieves no less success [4] .
In the course of their activity, Forsaken were nominated three times for the local music award Malta Music Awards and twice (in 2003 and 2009) became its owners in their nomination. The group often performs at various European metal festivals [4] .
