Saffron (crocus) is multi-colored [2] ( lat. Crocus versicolor ) - a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Saffron ( Crocus ) of the Irisaceae family ( Iridaceae ). First described by British botanist John Bellenden Coeur Goler in 1808 [3] [4] .

Distribution and habitat

It is found in southeastern France , in Monaco and in northwestern Italy [5] .

Prefers wooded limestone, rocky and grassy areas [6] .

The flowers are white, lilac or purple, often with stripes on the petals [6] .
