The attack on on April 2, 2015 in the city of Garissa in eastern Kenya is a terrorist attack that killed 148 people and injured 79. The Somali group Harakat al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack [2] .

Event
A group of militants with masked faces attacked the University’s campus in Garissa in the morning, fired indiscriminately, and then took students who had not had time to leave the campus hostage. 533 students, 60 teachers and university employees were held hostage by the militants. According to eyewitnesses, the militants chose Christians as victims.
At 6:30 p.m. on April 2, they managed to free 500 students and surround the militants in one of the university buildings.
On April 3, the operation against the militants was completed, the police managed to shoot four militants. The operation lasted several hours.
About 80 percent of university students are not locals. A significant part of the population of Garissa comes from Somalia .
On April 6, Kenyan air forces bombed two bases of the Kharakat al-Shabab group in Somalia [3] .
