Papyan, Ara Artushevich

Ara Artushevich Papyan ( Armenian Արա Արտուշի ապյան ; born on June 6, 1961 , Yerevan ) - Armenian lawyer , diplomat, political scientist and historian, former Armenian ambassador to Canada ( 2000-2006 ), heads the research center Modus Vivendi [1] [2 ] .

Biography

Early years

Born on June 6, 1961 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR . He served as a military translator in a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan [1] . In 1988 - 1989 , he led the Union of Armenian Veterans of the Afghan War [2] .

Education

  • 1984 - graduated with honors from the Faculty of Oriental Studies at EHU with a degree in Iranian Studies [1] .
  • 1989 - graduated from the EHU Department of History of the Armenian People
  • 1994 - graduated with honors from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia .
  • 1998 - Graduated from the NATO Defense College ( en ) in Rome [1] .
  • 1999 - graduated from Oxford with a degree in Public Diplomacy.

He deals with the issues of the rights of national minorities and in his interviews repeatedly stressed that Armenia should support the peoples of Azerbaijan, deprived of their statehood (Talysh, Lezghins, etc.) in the matter of creating such [5] .
