History

Changyuan County was created during the Qin Empire. During the time of Van Man’s dictatorship , the county was renamed Canggu (长 固 县), but after the founding of the Eastern Han dynasty, it was returned to its former name. Then, the county was divided into the specific ownership of Changyuan (长垣 侯 国) and Pinqiu county (平 丘 县). Changlo's specific ownership (长 罗 侯 создано) was created in 29, but in 39 it was disbanded. After the founding of the East Jin Empire, the specific holdings were liquidated, and Changyuan County was re-formed.

During the southern Song Dynasty, the county was disbanded in 447, but was re-created in 502. Under the Sui Empire, in 596, Changyuan County was renamed Kuancheng (匡 城县), and a county called Changyuan was created on the territory of modern Huasian County. In 605, Kuancheng County was annexed to Changyuan County.

Under the Tang Empire in 618, Kuancheng County was re-created. In 634, Changyuan County was annexed to Kuancheng County, and under the Late Liang Empire, Kuancheng County was renamed Changyuan, but under the Late Tang Empire, the name Kuancheng was returned to it.

After the founding of the Song Empire, due to the fact that the hieroglyph “Kuan” was included in the personal name of the founder of the dynasty Zhao Kuangyin, due to the practice of taboos in the names of Kuancheng County, it was renamed Hetsu in 960 (鹤 丘 县). In 1009, Hetsu County was renamed Changyuan.

Under the Ming and Qing empires, the county was subordinate to the authorities of the Daming County Council (大名府) of Zhili Province. After the Xinhai Revolution , a reform of the administrative structure was carried out in China, and in 1913 the councils were abolished. After the unification of China under the Kuomintang rule, the Zhili province was renamed Hebei in 1928.

After the victory in the civil war , the Pingyuan Province was created in August 1949 by the Communists, and the county became part of the Specialized Puyang (濮阳 专区) District of Pingyuan Province. On November 30, 1952, Pingyuan Province was disbanded, and the Puyang Special Region became part of the Henan Province. In 1954, Puyang Special District was disbanded, and the county became part of the Xinxiang Special District (新乡 专区). In 1955, the county was transferred to the Anyang Special District (安阳 专区). In 1958, Anyang Special District was annexed to Xinxiang Special Region, but was recreated in 1961. In 1968, Anyang Special District was renamed Anyang District (安阳 地区).

In 1983, Anyang County was disbanded, and the county became part of Puyang City District. In 1986, the county was transferred to the Xinxiang City District. On January 1, 2014, Changyuan County was removed from the Xinxiang City District and directly subordinated to the authorities of Henan Province.

Administrative Division

The county is divided into 5 street committees , 9 villages and 4 volosts .
