The first generation V12 Vanquish was created by designer , shown at the Geneva Motor Show and was produced from 2001 to 2005. The car was influenced by the Aston Martin Project Vantage Concept, which debuted with a V12 engine at the North American International Auto Show in January 1998. The exterior has little resemblance to the previous model, the DB7 Vantage .

The chassis had a rigid structure, thanks to the use of aluminum-carbon composite. A 6 liter, 48 valve V12 engine at an angle of 60 Β° produces 460 hp and 540 Nm of torque. Power is supplied through a 6-speed electro-hydraulic gearbox to the rear-wheel drive. The standard model was equipped with 355 mm ventilated brake discs with 4 piston calipers at the front, ABS with electronic brake force distribution.

It was the official car of James Bond in the movie " Die, but not now " [1] . He also had 2 concepts presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004, a Zagato Roadster convertible and a Bertone Jet 2 shoot-out .

Vanquish S

He made his debut at the Paris Auto Show in 2004 with a more powerful engine, improved aerodynamics, changes to the suspension and interior.

Power increased to 520 hp. The changes affected not only the engine, but also the appearance, a new nose shape and splitter in the front, while the drag was reduced to 0.32 (0.33 for the standard model), larger diameter wheels, the rear trunk lid with a small spoiler and a Vanquish S. badge The brake discs increased to 378 mm with six piston calipers for the front wheels and 330 mm discs for the rear.

In just 6 years, 1492 Vanquish and 1086 Vanquish S were produced. Car production ended with the Vanquish S Ultimate Edition, there are only 50 such cars, the body will be painted in "Ultimate Black" black, the interior will be updated and minor changes will be made.

The V12 Vanquish, with a top speed of 321 km / h, was the company's fastest production car, until the V12 Vantage S appeared until 2004. In 2007, the Vanquish S and V12 Vanquish were replaced with the DBS model in 2007.

Aston Martin introduced the 2012 Project AM310 Concept at Concorso D'Eleganza at Villa D'Este in 2012. Aston later announced that the car will go into production as the new Vanquish. [2]

The concept is based on the fourth generation VH platform, built with extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum, as well as a 5.9 liter V12 550 horsepower engine. In appearance, you can see the familiar features of Aston Martin, the headlights like Virage, the taillights and the hood are styled under the One 77 , also has a pronounced similarity with DB9 and Virage . Exterior concept is practically no different from a production car.

Vanquish 2012

Appearance combines some elements of DBS , Virage and One 77 . The trunk lid includes an integrated spoiler and looks like it is impossible to manufacture, this was done on the orders of the Executive Director Ulrich Betz. The body structure is made of carbon fiber and aluminum and has become 13% lighter in front and 25% tougher compared to the second generation VH used in DBS, due to the greater use of carbon fiber.

The interior is new and combines some elements of the exclusive One-77. The standard interior is hand-sewn in leather and Alcantara and available in several color schemes. The center console has a 6.5 "LCD multimedia system that was previously used in DBS, a 1000- watt Bang & Olufsen BeoSound stereo system of 13 speakers, and a hard disk satellite navigation system.

The car is wider, longer and lower than the original Vanquish (2001-2007 onwards) and more than 60% more free space in the cabin and trunk than in DBS.

In 2018, the 2012 Aston Martin Vanquish was discontinued, replaced by the new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera sports coupe.

Engine and chassis

The car uses a 5.9 liter (5932 cmΒ³) AM11 power unit, the location of which is 19 mm lower, a 48 valve V12 engine with two camshafts with variable valve timing, direct fuel injection and 11: 1 compression, a fully catalyzed exhaust system made of active steel valves. Power is supplied to the rear-wheel drive via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In August 2014, they started using the redesigned AM29 engine and the 8-speed Touchtronic 3.

For the first time for Aston Martin cars, Launch Control is used, a system that reduces wheel slip at startup.

The front suspension is made of alloy aluminum, front and rear with double wishbones, adaptive shock absorbers with anti-roll bar. Shock absorbers are controlled by 3 modes of damping (ADS) Sport, Normal, Track Mode. Ventilated carbon-ceramic brakes 398 mm in diameter in front with six piston calipers and 360 mm in the rear with four piston calipers, 13 kg lighter than steel counterparts, Pirelli P Zero tires front 225/30 / R20 and rear 305/30 / R20 . Weight distribution 51% -49% between front and rear axles. [3]

Aston Martin conducted more than 5,000 km of high-speed strength tests for Vanquish in Italy, Sweden, Spain, intensive testing on the Nurburgring track in the built-in center Aston Martin.
