The son of Thibault de Luxembourg , Count de Brienne, and Philippe de Melon.
In 1481, according to the will of his cousin, the last count of Provence Charles IV of Anjou , he received the Viscountry of Martigues with the lands of Penet and Châteauneuf. In 1487 he married a cousin niece of Louise of Savoy, daughter of the Count of Geneva, Janus de Fosigny , who brought Evian , Monte and Vevey in the lands of Vaud and Chablis as a dowry . In 1506 received from the Duke of Charles III of Savoy Faverzh .
In 1506 he commanded 10 thousand. Savoy detachment in the war with the Swiss, but did not succeed, and, having concluded a truce, retreated. After the conclusion of the Hebrew world on March 3, 1507 he tried to justify his failures by the fact that he was not delivered artillery on time.
