History

Under the Qin Empire, Xianyi County (襄邑 县) was created. Under the Song Empire, the county was elevated, becoming the province of Gongzhou (拱 州); 5 districts were subordinate to the authorities of the region. After these places were captured by the Jurchen and became part of the Jin Empire, the Gongzhou region was renamed Suizhou (睢州). Under the Ming Empire, in 1378 the region was demoted, becoming Suisyan County, but in 1383 it was again elevated to the region, and even became “directly controlled” (that is, it reported directly to the provincial authorities, bypassing the intermediate link in the form of a council); the provinces were subordinate to the districts of Kaocheng and Zhecheng . Subsequently, these counties were removed from subordination to the authorities of the region, and it became "homeless". After the Xinhai Revolution , administrative structure reform was carried out in China, and in 1913 the area was abolished; Suizhou area has been transformed into Suixian County.

In March 1949, the Shangqiu Special Region (商丘 专区) was formed, and the county became part of it. In December 1958, the Shangqiu Special Region was annexed to the Kaifeng Special Region (开封 专区), but was recreated in 1961. In 1968, the Shangqiu Special District was renamed the Shangqiu District (商丘 地区).

In June 1997, Shangqiu City, Shangqiu County and Shangqiu County were disbanded, and Shangqiu City District was formed.

Administrative Division

The county is divided into 8 villages and 12 volosts .

Notes

  1. ↑ In accordance with the rules of the Russian name of Chinese toponyms, if the Chinese name consists of one syllable, then the Chinese word is added to it, indicating the type of toponym ("county", "mountain", "river", etc.) so that the Russian name was at least two-fold.
