Diplomatic relations between Russia and Liechtenstein were established on January 30, 1994 [1] . The Russian ambassador to Switzerland is also accredited in Liechtenstein, and on July 11, 2006, an honorary Russian consulate was opened in Vaduz . The Swiss Embassy, ​​located in Moscow , represents Liechtenstein in Russia.

Mutual visits by officials are regularly made between countries. Contacts between law enforcement agencies, exchange of information in the tax and financial sphere, cultural cooperation are carried out. In the field of economic cooperation between Russia and Liechtenstein, the most favored nation treatment operates. According to Liechtenstein, trade between countries amounted to 69.7 million Swiss francs in 2008 [1] .

A significant contribution to the development of relations between the two countries is made by Baron E. A. von Falz-Fein , a public figure in Liechtenstein and a philanthropist of Russian origin [1] .
