Wilhelm Osterman (German: Wilhelm Ostermann; January 29, 1850, Prezelle, Hanover - January 31, 1922, Breslau) - German teacher, scientist, teacher and scientific writer in the field of pedagogy.

He was educated at the universities of Berlin , Erlangen and Göttingen , in 1874 he became rector of a gymnasium in Schluchtern, in 1875 he was ordained and worked first as a teacher in a seminary in the same city, since 1876 he was a senior teacher at a teacher training college in Oldenburg and since 1877 the director seminaries, since 1887 as a school inspector and since 1899 as a regional inspector and school inspector in Aurich , since 1900 a provincial school inspector in Breslau .
His main work, co-authored with Ludwig Wegener, Lehrbuch der Pädagogik (2 volumes, 1882–1883), was published in 1900 as the 11th and in 1902 as the 12th edition; co-authored with Wegener, he also wrote the work Leitfaden der Pädagogik (1908, subsequently reprinted). His other works are: Grundlehren der pädagogischen Psychologie (1880); Die hauptsächlichen Irrtümer der Herbartschen Psychologie und ihre pädagogische Konsequenzen (1887, 2nd edition in 1894, 3rd edition in 1908); Zur Herbartfrage (1888); "Das Interesse" (1895, 3rd edition - 1912); Pädagogisches Lesebuch für Lehrer und Lehrerseminare (1893, 2nd edition in 1901), Pädagogisches Lesebuch für Lehrer und Lehrerseminare (2nd edition in 1901, 4th edition in 1910).
