Annie (Annie) Jones ( Eng. Annie Jones ; July 14, 1865 , Virginia , USA - October 22, 1902 , New York , USA ) is an American bearded woman who toured with a showman and entrepreneur Phineas Barnum in a circus ride . A number of her portraits were made by American photographer Matthew Brady [1] .

Biography
Born July 14, 1865 in the city of , Smith County, Virginia .
The girl’s parents, when she was nine months old, started working with showman Barnum, who signed a three-year contract with her mother and she received $ 150 a week for her daughter. They lived by this time in New York. By the age of five, Annie had a mustache and a whiskers and she became widely known as a "bearded girl."
Cases of her abduction and use for private shows were connected with this unusual girl until she was returned to her mother, who had been watching her daughter for the rest of her life. Annie Jones's career included many travels - she worked with various entrepreneurs and museums. In adulthood, the hair on the girl's head reached a length of 180 cm. Annie was also known for her musical abilities.
She was married twice: since 1881 - to Richard Elliot, but divorced in 1895 and married a childhood friend William Donovan, who soon died, leaving her a widow.
Annie Jones died on October 22, 1902 in Brooklyn, New York , from tuberculosis. [2] Today it remains unknown what was the cause of this condition of a woman - hirsutism or some other genetic disease.
