Biography
The first musical composition “Marucha” was written in honor of his first love. From 1927 he worked in a cabaret. Subsequently he moved to Puebla de Zaragoza , but in 1928 he returned to Mexico City. In the same year he began working as a composer and accompanist of singer (tenor) Juan Arviz.
In September 1930, Lara began a successful career on the radio. In 1933 he made his first concert tour to Cuba, which of the political events on the island ended in failure. Later, he successfully performed in many cities of South America.
Lara has written over 700 songs. Author of a number of musical compositions and songs for movies. He wrote music for about 15 films. As an actor starred in 27 films.
Such popular compositions as Solamente una vez (written in Buenos Aires ), Veracruz, Tropicana and Pecadora made A. Lara popular composers not only in South America, but also in Spain.
In 1965, dictator Francisco Franco , who loved the song “ Granada ” (1932) [1] , granted the composer Spanish citizenship and donated housing in Granada , thus demonstrating his appreciation for the cycle of songs about Spain, such as, “Toledo”, “ Cuerdas de mi Guitarra ”,“ Granada ”,“ Sevilla ”and“ Madrid ”.
