Satellite Island is a small island in southeastern Australia . It is part of a group of islands lying off the southeast coast of Tasmania , in the D'Antrkasto Strait between Bruni Island and the mainland of Tasmania.

The island was discovered by a French expedition led by Bruni D'Antrkasto . It was originally used as an observatory for night observation of the sky.
On the island there is a large colony of birds. The island is surrounded by many shrubs and trees.
The island is privately owned [1] . According to Harper's Bazaar magazine, it ranks second in the world among the best private islands [2] .
