Himself executive and accurate, Blokhin demanded the same from his subordinates. He graduated from the Maritime Academy and was considered a good mathematician. Prior to his appointment as a senior officer, he served as a tutor in the naval corps, where he taught astronomy, nautical photography and mathematics. The cadets feared him for rigor. While lecturing, he held on with such confidence that he was given the nickname: "Indestructible aplomb." He kept his ship in order and purity, as far as swimming conditions allowed. In the mess-room he liked to get drunk with officers, but on the upper deck in relations with them was very demanding. He had a passion for arguing. For hours, he argued mine and artillery officers that they incorrectly educate their specialists. The team, sandwiched by them in the iron grip of discipline, was afraid of him. And he, possessing an excellent memory, knew all the sailors on the ship, not only by last name, but also by the personal properties of each of them. His character was calm, but firm and decisive at the right moment.

- A. S. Novikov-Surf. Tsushima
  • May 16, 1905 - During a single battle, the cruisers with the Japanese took command after being severely wounded by the commander , stopped the rebellion of the sailors rescued from the sunken battleship Oslyabya , broke away from the enemy and sank the ship that lost its combat capability at about the island, so that he would not get to the enemy. Captured by the Japanese.

Blokhin, commanding the ship, stood pulling his cap on the rear bridge, heavy and stiff, like a monument. His gray, unblinking eyes hardened, staring intently ahead into the shadow strip of the island. It seemed that he had gathered all the strength of his will in one tight knot to withstand these last minutes, deciding the fate ... Oslabians could no longer withstand the growing horror: the tension of human nerves has its limit. But the commander of the composition could not allow a riot during the battle, and even on the ship, which was already exhausted in an unequal battle. Blokhin, descending from the bridge, immediately mobilized officers, conductors and noncomors. Amid what went on around insanity, he began to dispose of the amazing stone serenity that bold animal handlers possess. And began to pacify the crowd under the roar of their guns, under the explosions of shells, in the smoke and flame of fires. They were beating on the face with what they got, not only the Oslab sailors, but also their officers. They were again sent from the hoses by strong jets of water, they were fired from revolvers. It all seemed more like delirium, like a nightmare, than like reality. Fortunately for Blokhin, only a part of people managed to escape from the residential deck, and the rest were stuck in the hatches, scoring them with their bodies. One way or another, but the order is put on a cruiser.
