Record World (up to April 18, 1964 Music Vendor [1] ) is an American weekly magazine published from July 1946 to 1996 [2] . Was one of the magazines that published the charts of the popularity of songs in the United States [2] [3] . He was one of the main music publications of the United States [1] and, along with Billboard and Cash Box, one of the three weekly professional magazines of the music industry in the country [2] [4] .

The magazine was founded under the name Music Vendor in 1946 [3] .
In 1964, the magazine, according to different interpretations, was either, starting from April 18, renamed Record World [1] [5] [6] , or was then based on the site of the old Music Vendor specialized in the jukebox industry with its new owners [7] . (Or that he was founded in 1964 by Sid Parns "on the remains of the weakening Music Vendor magazine." 8] .)
Charts
As of the late 1940s โ early 1950s, there were three major publications in the US music industry that published songs popularity charts: Billboard (published from 1894), Cash Box (published from 1942 to 1996) and Music Vendor (published from 1946). until 1982; in 1964 it was renamed Record World ). All three have published many different charts. The methods of calculating positions in the charts of all three editions changed slightly over time [2] .
