Description
Staphylinin small beetles . Body length from 1.8 to 2.8 mm. The main body color is reddish-brown. It is distinguished from the close genus Sagola by the lack of anterior and posterior frontal fossae (frontal foveae), the absence of promesoxal fossae, the presence of triangular protrusions along the anterior margin of the abdominal tergites IV — VI, and in females the sternite VIII is covered with pseudosternite [1] .
Systematics
Includes 10 species. The first species of this genus ( Sagola spinifer Broun) was described as early as 1895 by the major New Zealand coleopterologist Thomas Broun ( Thomas Broun ; 1838–1919), and was first included in the collective clan taxon Sagola Sharp, 1874 , and then separated into a separate taxon as Pseudoexeirarthra spinifer (Broun) Pseudoexeirarthra was originally allocated in 2015 by American coleopterists Jong-Seok Park ( Louisiana State University , Baton Rouge , USA ) and Christopher Carlton ( Christopher Carlton , Louisiana State Arthropod Museum, Baton Rouge , USA) on the basis of a New Zealand type Sagola spinifer (Broun, 1910) . Close to the genus Exeirarthra ( Faronini ) [1] [2] [3] [4] .
