Rumen Mitkov Dimitrov ( Bulgarian. Rumen Mitkov Dimitrov ; May 10, 1982 , Sofia ) - Bulgarian sambo fighter, mixed-style fighter, performing in the middle and welterweight categories. World and European champion in combat sambo, silver medalist of the World Martial Arts Games, multiple winner of national championships. In professional fights, MMA participated in the period 2007-2012, held sixteen fights and did not suffer a single defeat.

Biography

Rumen Dimitrov was born on May 10, 1982 in Sofia . He began to actively engage in martial arts in early childhood, along with his twin brother Rosen . He suffered from overweight and went into sports solely in order to lose weight [1] .

He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in 2007 when he attended the World Championships in Prague, from where he brought the bronze dignity award, won in the weight category up to 90 kg. A year later, at the world championship in St. Petersburg, he repeated this achievement. A year later, he went down to the category of 82 kg, after which he won the European Championship in Milan and the World Championship in Thessaloniki.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, in 2010 Dimitrov won the right to defend the country's honor at the World Martial Arts Games in Beijing , where he reached the final stage of the competition in the weight category 74 kg, losing to Bair Omoktuev in the decisive match [2] .

At the 2011 European Home Championships in Sofia, he won the silver medal in the under 82 kg category; in the final, he was defeated by Russian representative Murad Kerimov . Subsequently, he performed at various international tournaments for several years, for example, in 2014 he was among the participants in the world championship in Narita, however, he did not achieve great achievements and did not fall into the number of winners.

Along with his career in combat sambo, starting in 2007, Dimitrov quite successfully performed in professional fights according to mixed rules . Over the course of five years, he spent sixteen fights in local Bulgarian promotions, of which 13 won, in two cases a draw was recorded, and the last match, held in August 2012, was declared invalid. The most famous of his fights in the Bulgarian organization MAXFIGHT, where he defeated all his rivals and won the league title. He is currently organizing fights as part of his own Twins MMA promotion, created with his brother.
