Biography
Born September 25, 1805 in Moscow , the Russian Empire [1] [2] [3] .
In 1807 he was injured and deaf [1] [2] [3] .
From 1811 to 1813 he studied at the St. Petersburg School for the Deaf and Dumb [1] .
From 1816 to 1824 he lived in Germany [1] .
From 1816 to 1819 he studied at the Berlin Academy of Arts and a school for the deaf-mute [1] .
From 1819 to 1822 he was in the guesthouse K. Lang near Dresden [1] .
From 1822 to 1825 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden , which he graduated with a silver medal [1] .
In 1824 he visited Russia, but returned to Germany, where he devoted himself to the study of deaf education [1] .
In 1825 he returned to St. Petersburg. He worked as an artist in the Hermitage, after that as a draftsman, and then as a topographer in the Department of State Property [1] .
In the 1840s, the tutor of a deaf-mute boy [1] .
In 1852 he created a private boarding house for 5 boys of their poor families. Education is free [1] .
In 1853, the boarding school was given the title of school. Sponsor Weimarn [1] [2] .
In 1854, Arnold was allowed to appeal to benefactors for material help, despite this, the necessary money was not received [1] [2] .
In 1860, he founded in Moscow the first school for the deaf-mute [1] . Governor General Tuchkov supported the idea [2] .
In 1863, the school was sponsored by the Committee of Philanthropists [3] .
In 1864, 21 people studied at the school [1] .
In 1866, he focused on the work of a teacher, ceasing to be a director [1] .
From 1879 to 1882 - in the school for the deaf-mute in St. Petersburg [1] [2] .
In 1882 he resigned. Moved to Sestroretsk [1] .
In the 1890s he left for St. Petersburg [1] .
He died on April 24, 1891 in St. Petersburg [1] [3] , was buried in the Smolensk Orthodox Cemetery .
Rewards
In 1881 he received the Order of St. Stanislav of the second degree [1] .
